The Split of Property
In case of a divorce settlement, the ideal situation is for the parties to divide their assets and debts by themselves. If for some reason they are unable to do that, the court determines a split by using net value of the marital property and all divisible property. Some divorces result in one of the parties having to pay spousal support to the other. This is known as alimony. Alimony can be decided between the two parties with the help of their lawyers. In the case either parent has to relocate, he or she must sign a relocation agreement. If it results in a dispute, the court will step in to decide on the issue.
