About Me
Sherri-Marie J. St. Cyr brings over 19 years of legal experience to Moshtael Family Law, initially serving as a paralegal/litigation assistant for five years before becoming an attorney for the past 14+ years. Prior to joining us, she founded SMJ Legal Services. While her primary focus has always been family law, Sherri Marie has expanded her practice over the last 7 years to include probate and estate planning. She has also served as the Daily Settlement Officer (DSO) at the Torrance Courthouse for the past two years. Notably, she has been appointed as minor’s counsel by Los Angeles Superior Court judges for over five years.
During her tenure at her own practice, established in 2009, Sherri-Marie provided clients with personalized legal guidance, developing unique case strategies tailored to their needs. She has extensive experience representing clients in various court hearings, including those for domestic violence restraining orders, temporary orders, contempt, and trials. Her practice encompasses a wide range of family law issues, such as dissolution of marriage, paternity, child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, and adoption.
Mrs. St. Cyr has successfully litigated simple and complex cases across multiple counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino. In matters involving children, she prioritizes their best interests, advocating for amicable resolutions whenever feasible to minimize the impact of litigation on the children involved.
Mrs. St. Cyr was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2009 and is licensed to practice before all California courts and the Federal courts in the Central District of California. She maintains active membership in good standing.
Sherri-Marie J. St. Cyr earned her Juris Doctorate in Law from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, with honors. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in government from Georgetown University, graduating on the Dean’s List.
Previously, Mrs. St. Cyr served as a board member for the Los Angeles branch of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California from 2006 to 2012 and as a board member of the Disability Rights Legal Center’s Young Professional Board from 2004 to 2012. She is an alum of the Los Angeles Women’s Public Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI) Class of 2021.
Mrs. St. Cyr is a member of several esteemed legal associations, including the Los Angeles Bar Association, South Bay Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, and Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc.
Sherri-Marie takes pride in her roles as a devoted wife and mother to two boys. Beyond her legal career, she finds joy in spending quality time with her family and engaging in her passions, including cooking, and singing. During the summertime, she dedicates her time teaching arts and crafts for Monik’s Creative Movement with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation’s Parks After Dark program.
Additionally, Sherri-Marie has contributed to her community by serving as a sign language interpreter at Citizen of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Judson Baptist Church for many years. Her commitment to both her family and community reflects her compassionate and well-rounded character.
